Gilbert Marklund Chair for Furusnickarn AB, 1970s
Simple, straight slabs of natural pine wood are slightly angled and invisibly combined to an outstanding, architectural, brutalist yet very playful design.
These chairs could almost be the result of a kid playing with stacking blocks but reveal their true potential when actually being used to sit on. With a very fine sense of the human body, Marklund managed to, with simple means, create a chair that is fun, inviting and comfortable way beyond its iconic design.
Oh, and the chairs are in fact stackable!
A perfect conversation starter, a sculptural piece of design, an adornment to every room and a reminder to not forget to play.
